What would life be without a shade of mystery? Or everyday life without a touch of magic or a meal without the interplay between flavours and aromas?
In other words - without "La Tour D'y Voir"! Every day Brussels' tastiest hush-hush restaurant excels in the art of "culinary suspense"! The restaurant is, at lunchtime, a stress-free haven of peace in the heart of Brussels and, in the evening, an enchanting spot which offers you a sense of space in which to escape the drag of daily life. Who could have expected to find that here, in the middle of the aristocratic Grote Zavel, in a décor of a 14th century chapel. A serene and light-hearted oasis of calm situated on the first floor of the art gallery "Les Vieux Sablons".

Their line of reasoning is as follows ... For over seven years now, the "incognito" menus of La Tour D'y Voir have been turning traditional culinary principles on their head. La Tour D'y Voir tempts even the most stubborn of taste buds with its inventions, which always manages to combine creativity, fresh produce and affordable prices. Everything is fresh and the standards of hygiene are above reproach. Everything is used and consumed the very same day. So great value for money is guaranteed: 40 Euro for the "Surprise menu" and 50 Euro or 60 Euro for the "Prestige menu". |

The basic principle is as follows: you choose a menu with a "fish, meat or vegetarian" theme, depending on your fancy, and the chef, your partner in this lark, has a free hand to improvise, to think up and to surprise you. Luckily, the table companions have a few clues after all: the ingredients which are used to compile the menu are listed on the "mystery menu". You meal promises to be a ground-breaking experience - a "gastronomic" tremor. By acting the goat with something that others take very seriously, "La Tour D'y Voir" manages to bring the esoteric restaurant scene to its senses. An informal manner, a warm welcome and give-away prices, e.g. a lunch for EURO 16 (3 services ) Provided you book in advance, you can have "a quick lunch"; you will be served inside 45 minutes. |
| One last selling-point: Pascal and Tania Anciaux have converted the building into their own little Eden all by themselves. For six years on end, they have tirelessly transformed it into a unique, authentic-looking and cosy haunt, which reflects their informal, convivial personalities. Those who have chanced upon it, would rather that the address stayed confidential... Deo gratias. All the rooms are airconditioned and can seats up to eighty people.
Paris has its Tour d'Argent, Brussels its Tour D'y Voir. The latter is not only beautiful, but it also offers a nice view over the Grand Sablon. |
